When should I bring my child in for their first dental appointment?

Children should visit the dentist for routine checkups and cleanings twice per year, just like adults. They should have regular dental appointments scheduled after their first dental visit, which should occur around the time they turn one or when their first tooth falls out. If your child is over a year old and has not seen a dentist yet, don’t worry! We will be happy to see them at their first appointment with our team.

How should I prepare my child for their very first dental visit?

We understand that dental offices can be an overwhelming experience, especially for younger children. Our team always strives to make our patient’s experiences as pleasant as possible, and we advise parents to try to talk about dentistry in a positive light so that their child’s initial first impressions are positive. You are also welcome to bring your child in for a quick tour of our pediatric dental office before their first appointment to get a feel for our practice and meet some of the friendly faces they’ll be seeing at their first visit.

What appointments are available?

If you still need to schedule your child’s first dental visit, please give our front office a call or send us a message through our virtual contact form with a few times that work for you, and we will find a convenient time for your family to come see us. We are open Monday through Friday, and while you are welcome to schedule an appointment for your child any time during our office hours, we recommend that elementary-age and younger children visit us in the morning, as they tend to be more cooperative then. Our practice accepts same-day emergency visits as well.
