However, we understand that our pediatric patients may not enjoy taking care of their teeth at home or visiting the dentist. We aim to encourage positive experiences for patients to help them feel more engaged in their at-home oral care from a young age and comfortable during their dental visits.

Holidays and other special occasions can be a great opportunity to incorporate tooth-related traditions in a fun way. We invite you to print out these printable dental-themed Valentine’s cards for your child to share with their family members, friends, and neighbors. These cards subtly remind your child (and others) about the importance of their oral hygiene while also being a fun way of communicating a compliment!

Tooth-Friendly Treats for Valentine’s Day

Chocolate-covered strawberries are one of our favorite Valentine treats. Strawberries contain vitamin C, which promotes healthy gums, and chocolate is easily rinsed away from your teeth. Opt for dark chocolate over milk chocolate, as dark chocolate contains antioxidants that help ward off disease and less sugar. We also recommend washing down any treats with milk or water!

Limit or avoid sticky candies, taffy, caramels, gummies, lollipops, and hard candies. These treats are the most harmful to your teeth.

Have you scheduled your child’s first dental appointment of the year? We would be delighted to find a convenient time for them to come see us!

Appointments during spring break and early summer tend to fill up fast, so we always recommend that patients schedule with our team sooner rather than later if you’d prefer to get an appointment during these timeframes. However, our office is open until 4:30 Mondays through Thursdays, which provides an opportunity for some patients to come see us after school as well.
